The boys have changed so much in the last few weeks and I would guess it contributes to some of the tough days we have been having. Skyler and Ryder have topped the fussy charts in our household the last week, but I think we might be turning the corner, I HOPE that is. I never in a million years realized how many "phases" kids go through and when you have 3, it is never ending!
A few weeks ago the 5 of us and our little neighbor girls took a trip to the mountains for an afternoon. We attempted to do a hike with the boys, but quickly realized the one stroller we had would never make the trek so the girls, Ryder and I (Ryder was in a hiking pack on my back) continued on with the hike while dad and the two other boys went back to have a picnic lunch and play time.
The hike was 3.5 hours round trip. Jason and I have done the hike on a few different occasions in the past, but having a 30lb baby on your back made it oh so special. We had a great time, Ryder loved every second of it. I am not sure the girls knew what they were in for, but I think they had a good time as well.
After the hike we met up with Jason and the boys and went to a different area to have another "picnic" for the boys dinner. They were able to crawl around and just enjoy the outdoors.
I can't wait to do more stuff like this with them. Jason and I got away from doing the stuff we use to love, like camping and hiking because life just gets "too busy". I am pretty sure having the boys will bring us back around; we have already started talking about when is the earliest we can take them camping.
The boys are doing good. They are almost 13 months and already eating like crazy. I have heard about the appetite that boys have, I just thought this happened later in life. I can't imagine what they will be like as teenagers.
We don't have walkers, but they are all moving like crazy. I know last time I said Sky is so close to walking and I really think it will be very soon. We have barricaded the leaving room with gates. We did find Sky a few times up the stairs and said, "ok, its time!" We use to have a little area in our office that was their playroom, but they grew out of it so now the have the living room...and the office, 2 bedrooms and a little bit of the bonus room! ha!
For several months the boys have been sleeping in different rooms. Their sleep habits or lack there of, made us decide that sleeping in their own rooms is what had to be done. I am sure as they grow it will change and they may all end up back in one room together, but for now it works out best this way.
The boys are starting to really interact with one another. It is hilarious to see them chase after each other or look at one another in a weird way and then they all just start cracking up.
Asher LOVES his books. He woke up yesterday and instead of going to play with his brothers, he went directly to the book basket and sat there for about 20 min. Its amazing that he can just sit there and look thru book after book.
Jason, Jenna and I are working on sign language with the boys. I am determined to get a few signs down with them instead of hearing them scream at me. So far we are catching on (slowly) to the sign for "milk". Asher used it this morning and I would say Sky is the one that usually will do it. We are also working on the sign for "more". When teaching them, Ryder looks at me and claps. Close...but not the real sign. I'm not giving up.
We are really, really anxious for our beautiful spring weather to get here. A few weeks ago we got a teaser so I can only hope that it is right around the corner. We are working on getting the backyard ready for the boys. We bought them their 1st outdoor slide/climber apparatus thingy. We haven't been able to use it yet because of the rain, but soon.
Well, I am sure I left something out, but plenty for you to read! Enjoy the many great pics below!

Our brilliant son, Asher. Out of all the letters he picked out "A" for Asher. Mommy was so proud. (You can clearly tell he didn't have a clue what he was doing right, but faked it for me) |
